Quick Facts

Trusted traveler programs offer a faster security screening process to pre-vetted domestic and international travelers, alleviating long lines and freeing both TSA and CBP officers to focus on unknown passengers.

In the interest of national security and providing a safe, efficient journey for travelers, U.S. Travel strongly advocates for the expansion of trusted traveler programs.

TSA Report: Transforming Security at Airports

Recommendations

Grow the TSA Precheck Program

TSA Precheck allows the TSA to refocus resources on higher-risk passengers and expedite screening of low-risk, pre-vetted travelers. Efforts to grow the program should focus on Four Ps: process, promotion, price and prioritization.

Expand Global Entry

By removing known, low-risk travelers from the regular screening process, expanding Global Entry enables CBP to focus resources on potentially riskier unknown travelers.

Transform the TSA

Implementing recommendations from U.S. Travel’s 2016 “Transforming Security at Airports” (RELATED RESEARCH in the right hand side bar) will improve efficiency and security at airport checkpoints, as well as ensure TSA is functioning at optimal levels.
